This course is approved by Washington State Labor & Industries for all Electricians, trainees, and apprentices.  It will apply towards your renewal requirements.

The 2023 National Electrical Code (NEC) is an important document that sets standards for electrical safety in the United States. It provides guidelines for the installation and use of electrical equipment and systems, and is updated regularly to keep up with advancements in technology and new safety concerns.

Understanding these definitions is important for ensuring that electrical systems are designed and installed in a way that minimizes the risk of electrical fires, shocks, and other hazards.

To renew an electrician or specialty electrician certificate 24 hours every three years.

To renew a trainee certificate 48 hours every two years.

Article 90 draws boundaries around the National Electrical Code—boundaries many people fail to understand. For example, Article 90 has long made it clear the NEC is not intended as a design specification or instruction manual. The National Electrical Code has one purpose only.

Article 100 defines a Grounded Conductor as A system or circuit conductor that is intentionally grounded. This definition is undoubtedly correct, but as previously stated, a Grounding Conductor (aka Equipment Grounding Conductor) is ALSO grounded.

Article 110 of the National Electrical Code (NEC) covers the general requirements for the examination and approval, installation and use, access to, and spaces about electrical equipment.

Please bring to class your NEC 2023 Code book. ABC will have on hand note paper, pencils, and highlighters.
